Jehuda Reinharz, Brandeis University President Emeritus, and Richard Koret Professor of Modern Jewish History and author of Chaim Weizmann: A Biography, will lead this historical approach to how and why the state of Israel was formed. He’ll explore the impetus for Zionism in the twentieth century, why Britain was so heavily involved in the establishment of Israel, and how a chemist from Belorussia became the country’s first president.
